CLEAN WATER

2.2 billion people worldwide lack access to a safely-managed source of drinking water for their families.  1.8 billion people use a source of drinking water contaminated with faeces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio. (WHO/UNICEF). Approximately 300,000 children under the age of 5 worldwide die every year due to unsafe drinking water and poor hygiene. (Source: UNWater.org).  We consider contaminated water to be the #1 health problem in the world.

Below are OBOV’s solutions to address this massive problem:

Water Filtration

OBOV’s primary strategy for addressing the need for clean water is the installation of 4-stage, sub-micron water systems which physically remove dirt, parasites and bacteria from existing water sources.  These systems are easy to maintain and are capable of producing quantities of water large enough to support an orphanage, school or village at a very low relative cost.

Sustainability

Throughout each year, our in-country representatives perform regular maintenance and periodic filter-changes on our 234 existing water systems. At OBOV, “Job 1” is our commitment to sustainability, ensuring that each water system will be a blessing to the communities they serve for years to come.

Water Storage

Clean water is a precious asset in the communities we serve.  As vital as creating clean water is the ability to store it for needs through each day and week.  OBOV makes a substantial investment each year to improve the ability of churches, orphanages, schools and communities to store clean water.

Wells & Solar Well Pumps

In 2024, OBOV completed its 22th, 100% solar-powered community water station in Haiti. Utility power is unreliable or nonexistent in most places making each solar installation life-changing for communities as each site produces thousands of gallons of clean water per day. One Ball One Village also helps communities from time to time by drilling wells where no viable water source exists.
