What We Believe
The leaders, volunteers and supporters of One Ball One Village are followers of Jesus Christ and are answering God’s’ call to reach the “least of these” in the countries we work. Whether through the installation of a water system, conducting a medical clinic in an impoverished community, distributing supplies after a natural disaster, providing food for an orphanage or support for a school, OBOV is guided by these words of Jesus:
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25: 34-40.
At the completion of each clean water project, the OBOV team leaves a reminder for the people who collect water at that site. Oftentimes a plaque or even a painted sign, the words recorded in John 4: 13-14 remind villagers that the community that the clean water is a gift from God: “Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
