Disaster Relief
OBOV responded following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti (2021), combining forces with its partners Schools for Haiti and Mission Possible Relief to deliver over 100,000 meals, clean water, tents and tarps for 130 families and medical care for injured and sick in remote locations in the southwest portion of the country.
Through the enormous generosity of its supporters, OBOV has also responded in the wake of several devastating hurricanes: Matthew (Haiti, 2016), Maria (Puerto Rico, 2017) and Dorian (Bahamas, 2019) as well as the eruption of the Fuego Volcano (Guatemala, 2018). OBOV installed water systems at multiple cholera treatment hospitals in Haiti following Hurricane Mathew as well as 10 church sites in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. In 2018, OBOV was one of the few organizations on the ground immediately after the eruption of the Fuego Volcano, distributing much needed food and disaster supplies to remote locations. Finally, through our partner Missionary Flights, OBOV sent thousands of pounds of disaster supplies (generators, tents, tarps, etc.) and meals to the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian’s destruction.
