Medical Outreach

Access to professional medical care is difficult and rare in the developing world.  Many routinely treated illnesses are water-borne and come from drinking and bathing in contaminated water.  God has opened the door for OBOV to merge its water ministry with the efforts of doctors, nurses, dentists and optometrists in Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Haiti to address health needs in an even greater way!

Haiti

In 2021, OBOV started a fully-functioning eye clinic, under the direction of Isaiah Lapointe, in Arcahaie, Haiti, a town of approximately 100,000 people with no other access to professional eye care. We could not have accomplished this without the astounding generosity from local optometrists, doctors, OBOV supporters and our friends at VOSH Southeast. The clinic is now entering its fourth year of operation and has served hundreds of patients, many with chronic diseases like glaucoma.

Guatemala

In 2018, One Ball One Village, along with its sister organization OBOV Guatemala, began holding regular medical outreach missions in remote areas of the country.  Local Guatemalan doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals treat hundreds of patients each trip.  It is not uncommon for the team to treat patients who have never seen a doctor or dentist in their lifetime.

Dominican Republic

OBOV, in partnership with Hope and Health Project and VOSH Southeast, leads mission teams to perform medical, dental and vision clinics in remote villages in and around Jarabacoa treating hundreds of patients. OBOV installs water systems at each clinic site to help improve the long-term health in each community.
